Basketball Recap: Crest Ridge Now 8-1 over Last Nine Games

Crest Ridge proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 33) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged the Wellington-Napoleon Tigers out 53-50. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 206th, while the Tigers are ranked 512th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wellington-Napoleon lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Brody Best, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 18 points and three steals. Those 18 points gave Best a new career-high. Jace Mefferd was another key player, putting up 12 points and five assists.

Crest Ridge has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Wellington-Napoleon, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season.

Crest Ridge will host Lexington at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Crest Ridge will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Wellington-Napoleon, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Wellington-Napoleon Tigers duke it out with the Oak Grove Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wellington-Napoleon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.2 points per game this season.
