Basketball Recap: Neuse Charter Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Klayton Tew and Donolyjah Tyrell

Neuse Charter lost against North Duplin back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Neuse Charter Cougars fell 62-54 to the North Duplin Rebels.

Neuse Charter's loss came despite strong showings from Donolyjah Tyrell and Klayton Tew. Tyrell dropped a double-double on 16 points and 20 rebounds, while Tew posted 18 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave Tyrell a new career-high in boards. Kamden Swain was another key player, putting up eight points.

Luke Kelly had a dynamite game for North Duplin, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Branson Martin, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 18 points.

Neuse Charter's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for North Duplin, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-8.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Neuse Charter Cougars challenge the Hobbton Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Neuse Charter is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.6 points per game this season. As for North Duplin, they will take on Lakewood at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lakewood will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something North Duplin surely won't give up without a fight.
