Basketball Recap: Erie Takes a Loss

Erie and St. Mary's-Colgan squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Erie had to settle for second. They took a 41-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Mary's-Colgan Panthers. The Red Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Despite the loss, Erie still got an impressive performance from Reid Duff, who posted 21 points and eight boards. Duff's big performance that evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points.

Even though they lost, Erie smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive matchups.

Erie's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-12. As for St. Mary's-Colgan, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-9.

As of now, neither Erie nor St. Mary's-Colgan have any future games scheduled.
