The Lapel Bulldogs will square off against the Madison-Grant Argylls at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Lapel's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. Everything went their way against Greencastle as they made off with a 12-0 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Bulldogs needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
Not much got past Addison Bodenhorn, who gave up just four hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Greencastle off the board. Bodenhorn has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Paige Stires was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Taylor Mroz, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Lapel kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greencastle only managed four hits.
Meanwhile, Madison-Grant came into Tuesday's contest having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past Blackford 10-0 on Tuesday.
The team relied heavily on Demie Havens, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Carley Holliday, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Madison-Grant's win bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Lapel, their victory bumped their record up to 14-4.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lapel hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .331. However, it's not like Madison-Grant struggles in that department as they've averaged .428. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lapel took their win against Madison-Grant when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 15-5 score. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Argylls turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
