Volleyball Recap: Lancaster Golden Gales vs. Olentangy Orange Pioneers

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Lancaster can now relate to. They lost 3-0 to the Olentangy Orange Pioneers on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Golden Gales of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2017.

While Lancaster was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-13, 25-23.

Kileigh Rohr paced Lancaster's offense, picking up six kills. Rohr got some help from Madison Kemp and her 19 assists. Kemp also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Zoe Mitchell, racking up two apiece.

Olentangy Orange's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chloe Moore, who had 25 digs and two aces. Moore is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Maddy Henry, who had 16 digs and three aces.

Lancaster's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-11. As for Olentangy Orange, they pushed their record up to 20-4 with the victory, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season.

Lancaster does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Olentangy Orange, they will square off against Lincoln at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lincoln will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Olentangy Orange surely won't give up without a fight.
