Recap: Chelsea Academy Knights vs. Christ Chapel Academy
The Chelsea Academy Knights were the 58-45 winner over Christ Chapel Academy when they last played one another last Friday, but their luck changed this time around. Chelsea Academy fell to Christ Chapel Academy 62-58. Chelsea Academy has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.
Chelsea Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cici Wingate, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wingate has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Evelyn Wingate, who scored 12 points along with eight steals.
Chelsea Academy struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
It was another big night for Zaria Gaskins, who scored 37 points along with six steals and two blocks for Christ Chapel Academy. That's the first time this season that Gaskins posted two or more blocks. Maya Brantley was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten steals.
Chelsea Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Christ Chapel Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Chelsea Academy will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Fairfax HomeSchool at 4:30 p.m. Fairfax HomeSchool is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games. As for Christ Chapel Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Trinity at Meadow View at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Trinity at Meadow View will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 317th, while Christ Chapel Academy is ranked 139th).
