Baseball Recap: Lincoln Christian Wins Going Away Against Roncalli Catholic

Lincoln Christian never got on the board in their matchup last Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Roncalli Catholic on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the Crimson Pride. The result was nothing new for the Crusaders, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.

Eilam Bryson was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits. Bryson was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Lincoln Christian got a massive performance out of Drew Mittan, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that Mittan launched this season. Another player making a difference was Maddox Eppenbach, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Lincoln Christian moved to 6-4 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Roncalli Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lincoln Christian will venture away from home to face off against Auburn at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Crusaders surely won't give up without a fight. As for Roncalli Catholic, they will square off against Gross Catholic at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The Crimson Pride's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season.
