Baseball Recap: North Providence's Loss Ends Nine-Game Winning Streak at Home

North Providence dropped their record down to 11-3 on Thursday, which also ended the team's nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They lost 13-2 to the Burrillville Broncos. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Cougars, who until this matchup were averaging 3.21 runs allowed.

Mike Allard was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

As for Burrillville, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by seven runs or more this season.

On Burrillville's side, Daniel Delmonaco made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Delmonaco has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jordan Furtado, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Jack Dichiaro was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Coming up, North Providence will head out to face off against La Salle Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Rams' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Burrillville, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against St. Raphael Academy at 11:00 a.m.
