Baseball Game Preview: Windermere Prep Lakers vs. Foundation Academy Lions

The Windermere Prep Lakers will venture away from home to face off against the Foundation Academy Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Windermere Prep has given up an average of 8.9 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Windermere Prep is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 19 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Lake Highland Prep on Thursday. They lost 12-2 to the Highlanders. The defeat continues a trend for the Lakers in their meetings with the Highlanders: they've now lost five in a row.

Windermere Prep saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nicolas Pe?a, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Foundation Academy fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against University Christian on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Christians. The Lions' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Ethan Pate made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Jose Taveras, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI and one double.

Foundation Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 15-7. As for Windermere Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11.

Windermere Prep couldn't quite get it done against Foundation Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2023 as they fell 3-0. Can the Lakers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
