Preview: Northwest Cabarrus Trojans vs. Robinson Bulldogs

Northwest Cabarrus has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on The Robinson Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Friday, Northwest Cabarrus took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 43-7 win over Concord. Northwest Cabarrus pushed the score to 33-7 by the end of the third, a deficit Concord had little chance of recovering from.

Alex Walker was his usual excellent self, rushing for 33 yards and a touchdown, while also throwing for 216 yards and a touchdown. Ray Jay Waters also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.

Northwest Cabarrus' defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. The heavy lifting was done by Jackson Forrest and Eddie Conover who racked up four sacks between them.

Meanwhile, Robinson put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They didn't even let South Rowan onto the board and left with a 65-0 win. Given Robinson's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while South Rowan is ranked 315th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Robinson got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Isaac Lee out in front who threw for 200 yards and four touchdowns while completing 90.9% of his passes. Lee is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Na'ledge Wright, who rushed for 125 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.

Northwest Cabarrus' victory was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-8 East Rowan and 1-8 West Cabarrus (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 34.7% over those games). As for Robinson, their victory on Friday also bumped their record up to 8-0.

Northwest Cabarrus took a serious blow against Robinson in their previous meeting back in March of 2021, falling 45-7. Can Northwest Cabarrus avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
