Baseball Game Preview: Shawe Memorial Hilltoppers vs. Henryville Hornets

The Shawe Memorial Hilltoppers are taking a road trip to take on the Henryville Hornets at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Shawe Memorial comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Shawe Memorial fell victim to South Decatur and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Cougars, falling 11-0.

Shawe Memorial got a good showing from Joseph Hart, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Meanwhile, Henryville fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Eastern on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Musketeers by a score of 10-9.

Brody White made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Wyatt Owens was another key player, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Shawe Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Henryville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

Shawe Memorial came out on top in a nail-biter against Henryville in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 6-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hilltoppers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
