Volleyball Game Preview: The Woodlands Highlanders vs. Willis Wildkats

The Woodlands has gone 9-1 against Willis recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Highlanders will host the Wildkats at 5:30 p.m.

The Woodlands is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest loss since August 19th on Friday. They came up short against Grand Oaks, falling 3-0. The Highlanders haven't had much luck with the Grizzlies recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

The Woodlands took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-17, 27-25.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Ava Gibbs, who had 17 digs and six assists. She has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 30 times she's played. JerMya Dickerson was another key player, getting 11 digs and two aces.

Meanwhile, Willis made easy work of Caney Creek on Friday and carried off a 3-0 win.

Willis' got stronger as the match went on, holding Caney Creek to fewer and fewer points set over set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-13, 25-4.

The Woodlands now has a losing record of 16-17. As for Willis, their victory bumped their record up to 19-16.

The Woodlands came up short against Willis when the teams last played back in August, falling 3-1. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Wildkats' MAGGIE MAJKSZAK, who had nine digs and five aces.
