Preview: Mercy Magic vs. Loch Raven Raiders
The Mercy Magic will be playing in front of their home fans against the Loch Raven Raiders at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. Loch Raven took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Mercy, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, Mercy sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 35-33 win over Southeast Raleigh. The victory was just what Mercy needed coming off of a 75-28 defeat in their prior game.
Meanwhile, Loch Raven ended up a good deal behind Pikesville on Friday and lost 51-32. Loch Raven has not had much luck with Pikesville recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Defeat or not, Loch Raven got some senior leadership from Meona Boykin who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 10 rebounds and Maya Gordon who scored 6 points along with 13 rebounds and 7 steals.
Mercy now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Loch Raven, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Mercy came out on top in a nail-biter against Loch Raven when the teams last played back in December of 2019, sneaking past 47-45. Will Mercy repeat their success, or does Loch Raven have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
