Softball Recap: Westbrook Knights vs. Haddam-Killingworth Cougars
Westbrook kicked off their season on the road on Saturday and hit a couple of potholes. Their tough 13-1 defeat to the Haddam-Killingworth Cougars might stick with them for a while. Westbrook has not had much luck with Haddam-Killingworth recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
For Haddam-Killingworth's part, they got a great performance from Emma Giaccone as she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
At the plate, Cheyenne LaTouche was incredible, going 3-for-3 with a home run, four runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Annabelle Zajac, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Westbrook will be playing in front of their home fans against Portland at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Haddam-Killingworth, they will head out on the road to take on Cromwell at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
