Soccer Game Preview: Gateway vs. Plum

Gateway hasn't had much luck against Plum recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Gators will head out to challenge the Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. Gateway will be strutting in after a victory while Plum will be coming in after a loss.

Plum will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Gateway extended their winning streak to three on Thursday. The Gators put the hurt on Penn Hills with a sharp 7-2 win. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 4-1.

Meanwhile, Plum entered their contest against Franklin Regional on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Mustangs took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Plum came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania soccer rankings (they are ranked sixth, while Franklin Regional are ranked 55th).

The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 3-7. As for Plum, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-2-1.

Gateway suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Plum in their previous matchup on September 9th. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Gators were down 4-1.
