Softball Recap: Mingus Takes a Loss

Mingus extended their losing streak to nine on Friday, dropping them down to 3-14. They lost 12-2 to the Coconino Panthers. The Marauders were not able to make up for their loss to the Panthers from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

As for Coconino, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-6. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by seven runs or more this season.

For Coconino's part, Savannah Waters and Emma Kennelly did most of the damage at the plate: Waters went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles, while Kennelly went 1-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits Waters has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Sophia Ormsby, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Mingus has already played their next matchup, a 20-0 defeat against Mohave on the 11th. Hopefully Coconino paid attention to the Marauders' game: the next time they hit the field , they'll take on the Marauders at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
