St. Mary's Ryken is a perfect 10-0 against Bishop Ireton since March of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Knights will welcome the Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. St. Mary's Ryken will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
St. Mary's Ryken is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: St. John's, who was ranked first in their home state at the time (St. Mary's Ryken was ranked first). The Knights came out on top against the Cadets by a score of 6-2 on Monday.

Mikaela Guy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up 12 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game.
At the plate, Myla Harding was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ava Chadwick, who went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
St. Mary's Ryken always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. John's only posted an OBP of .250.
Meanwhile, Bishop Ireton didn't have quite enough to beat Bishop McNamara on Tuesday and fell 2-1. That's two games in a row now that the Cardinals have lost by just one run.
Bishop Ireton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grace Artz, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.
St. Mary's Ryken pushed their record up to 13-3 with the win, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Bishop Ireton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.
Bishop Ireton's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: St. Mary's Ryken has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. It's a different story for Bishop Ireton, though, as they've been averaging 8.8 hits. Given St. Mary's Ryken's sizable advantage in that area, the Cardinals will need to find a way to close that gap.
St. Mary's Ryken took their win against Bishop Ireton when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 15-0 score. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Cardinals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
