Basketball Game Preview: Mountain View Spartans vs. Milpitas Trojans

The Mountain View Spartans will venture away from home to challenge the Milpitas Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Mountain View took a loss when they played away from home last Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Everything went their way against Gunn as Mountain View made off with a 71-47 win. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 359th, while the Titans are ranked 728th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Milpitas won against Los Altos on Wednesday with 73 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Milpitas really took it to Wilcox for the full four quarters, racking up a 73-35 victory. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Milpitas is also on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Mountain View, the win got them back to even at 9-9.

Mountain View came up short against Milpitas in their previous matchup on January 8th, falling 56-49. Can Mountain View avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
