Football Recap: Plainfield East Comes Up Short + How To Watch

After some red-hot attacks on offense in their last three matches, Plainfield East finally came back down to earth on Friday. They were outmatched by the Yorkville Foxes and fell 28-0. While losing is never fun, the Bengals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 269th, while the Foxes are ranked 77th).

Brady Cloherty threw for 190 yards on 23 of 39 attempts. Markeith Taylor was his top target, picking up 88 receiving yards. On the ground, David Croom rushed for 74 yards.

Yorkville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gavin Geegan led the charge by rushing for 79 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. T.J. Harland was another key back, rushing for 108 yards on only 12 carries.

Plainfield East's defeat dropped their record down to 3-1. As for Yorkville, their win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0.

Looking ahead, Plainfield East will be playing in front of their home fans against Plainfield South at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Yorkville, they will head out to square off against Oswego at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Foxes 8.2, the Panthers 8.8) so any points scored will be well earned.
