Basketball Game Preview: Cave Springs Hornets vs. Vian Wolverines

The Cave Springs Hornets will venture away from home to square off against the Vian Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Cave Springs has six straight victories, Vian has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Cave Springs will head into Thursday's game hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 58) and last Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Battiest 39-36. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hornets have posted since January 11, 2024.

Meanwhile, Vian was beaten by Keys 71-15 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Wolverines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 334th, while the Cougars are ranked 38th).

Cave Springs pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.4 points per game. As for Vian, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.
