Preview: Verdigris Cardinals vs. Miami Wardogs
Verdigris is 9-0-1 against Miami since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Verdigris Cardinals will head out on the road to face off against the Miami Wardogs at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Verdigris focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday.
Verdigris had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They secured a 53-49 W over Oologah.
Verdigris' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Coy Lemons led the charge by going 7 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 21 points and 1 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Willis, who scored 8 points along with 8 assists and 8 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Miami didn't have too much trouble with Jay on the road on Tuesday as they won 71-54.
Verdigris' win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Miami, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 1-0.
Everything came up roses for Verdigris against Miami when the teams last played back in February as the team secured a 65-38 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Verdigris since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
