Baseball Recap: Mound-Westonka Takes a Loss

Mound-Westonka had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 2-6 to make it four. They fell just short of the Southwest Christian Stars by a score of 5-4. The White Hawks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Stars earlier this season, when they won 6-0.

Isaac Aud was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mound-Westonka saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Max Kraay, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Cole Munsterteiger also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

As for Southwest Christian, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games.

On Southwest Christian's side, they got a great performance from Jack Manion as he struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk).

At the plate, Eric Stelter was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Cruz Winegarden was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Looking ahead, Mound-Westonka will take on Jordan at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Southwest Christian, they will challenge Hutchinson at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Stars 3.9, the Tigers 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
