Baseball Recap: James F. Byrnes Has No Trouble Against Gaffney

James F. Byrnes lost to Gaffney back in May of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The James F. Byrnes Rebels were the clear victor by a 12-5 margin over the Gaffney Indians. Considering the Rebels have won three contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Connor Crenshaw made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Crenshaw was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

In other pitching news, Landon Hulehan looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, DJ Jones was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxson Camp, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

James F. Byrnes always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

The win made it two in a row for James F. Byrnes and bumps their season record up to 5-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Gaffney, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-4.
