Baseball Recap: Rifle Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Coal Ridge, Rifle was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They came out on top against the Battle Mountain Huskies by a score of 5-2. The victory continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Huskies: they've now won seven in a row.

Ryder Bjurstrom spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up nine Ks. He has become a key player for Rifle: the team is 7-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Robbie Magnuson was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Quentin Kramer, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Rifle's record is now 10-11. As for Battle Mountain, they dropped their record down to 10-10 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Rifle beat the Huskies by a score of 5-4 later that day.
