Softball Recap: North Laurel Beats Somerset for Their Tenth Straight Victory

North Laurel waltzed into their game on Monday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. They came out on top against the Somerset Briar Jumpers by a score of 6-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-0 back in March.

Emma Carl made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bella Sizemore, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Saige McClure, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

North Laurel's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-1-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Somerset, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 12 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-13-1 record this season.

North Laurel will host Corbin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Somerset, they will head out on the road to square off against Russell County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
