Basketball Recap: Holy Cross Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Holy Cross's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They snuck past the Valley Vikings with a 61-55 victory. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while the Vikings are ranked 270th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Holy Cross' win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-7. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points per game. As for Valley, they are on a 14-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.

Holy Cross wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 66-60 victory against Brown on the 27th. Valley has also already played their next game, a 47-42 loss against Francis Parker on the 28th.
