Basketball Game Preview: Henderson County Colonels vs. Crittenden County Rockets

Henderson County is a perfect 4-0 against Crittenden County since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Henderson County Colonels will take on the Crittenden County Rockets at 7:00 p.m. Henderson County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Crittenden County likes a good challenge.

Last Monday, Henderson County took their contest with ease, bagging a 55-26 victory over McLean County. The win continues a trend for the Colonels in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won five in a row.

Henderson County can attribute much of their success to Brooklyn Gibson, who went 7-for-11 to rack up 16 points and five rebounds, and A'Tylia Green, who went 5-for-9 en route to 13 points and five steals. Green has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Allyson Rideout, who posted eight points and seven boards.

Henderson County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Crittenden County lost 55-35 to Hopkins County Central on Tuesday.

Henderson County pushed their record up to 21-4 with the victory, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points over those games. As for Crittenden County, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-6.

Everything came up roses for Henderson County against Crittenden County in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as the squad secured a 72-44 win. Will Henderson County repeat their success, or does Crittenden County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
