Baseball Recap: Coon Rapids Comes Up Short

Coon Rapids extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-5 in the process. They came up short against the Andover Huskies, falling 10-0. The game marked the first time this year in which the Cardinals were not able to get on the board.

As for Andover, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2. That ten run margin sets a new team best for them this season.

For Andover's part, Brett Buettner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave Buettner a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Andover got a big performance out of Keaton Coe, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs Coe has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Danny Scheller, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one triple.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Coon Rapids will take on Washburn at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Andover, they will square off against Spring Lake Park at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
