Baseball Game Preview: Old Town Coyotes vs. John Bapst Memorial Crusaders

The Old Town Coyotes will head out on the road to face off against the John Bapst Memorial Crusaders at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Old Town is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Maine's top teams: Bangor, who was ranked 11th at the time (Old Town was ranked 14th). The Coyotes fell just short of the Rams by a score of 7-6 on Friday. The Coyotes haven't had much luck with the Rams recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Julian Duty was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Duty was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double. That double was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Nate Baker was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Ethan Closson, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs.

Meanwhile, John Bapst Memorial came up short against Belfast on Friday and fell 6-3.

John Bapst Memorial dropped their record down to 2-6 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Old Town, their record now sits at 4-4.

Old Town couldn't quite finish off John Bapst Memorial in their previous meeting on Thursday and fell 6-4. Can the Coyotes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
