Baseball Game Preview: Liberty North Eagles vs. Kearney Bulldogs

The Liberty North Eagles will face off against the Kearney Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Liberty North's pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so Kearney's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

While Liberty North's victory against Liberty wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles won by a run and slipped past the Blue Jays 3-2. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Blue Jays: they've now won seven in a row.

Brayden Davidson tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Troy Fisher, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kearney). They put the hurt on Central with a sharp 15-4 victory on Monday. The win was familiar territory for the Bulldogs, who have now won three games in a row.

Kearney now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Liberty North, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.

Liberty North beat Kearney 4-1 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
