Basketball Recap: Fruita Monument Now 8-1 over Last Nine Games

Fruita Monument won the last time they faced Palisade and things went their way on Friday too. The Fruita Monument Wildcats strolled past the Palisade Bulldogs with points to spare, taking the game 44-26. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 131st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fruita Monument got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Daniel Thomason out in front who went 5 of 8 en route to 11 points and five boards. Thomason is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Karson Weddle was another key player, putting up nine points and three steals.

Despite the loss, Palisade had strong showings from Hunter Howard, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 11 points and four steals, and LJ Ballenger, who posted three points.

Fruita Monument is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.4 points per game. As for Palisade, they now have a losing record at 7-8.

Fruita Monument wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 47-45 victory against Montrose on the 28th. As for Palisade, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-50 win against Glenwood Springs on the 28th.
