Softball Recap: St. Ursula Academy Beats Mercy Mcauley for Their Sixth Straight Victory

St. Ursula Academy won against Seton last Friday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Bulldogs came out on top against the Mercy McAuley Wolves by a score of 7-2. The Bulldogs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wolves, too.

O Basil spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on one hit and racked up 16 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, J Booth and A Bunner did most of the damage at the plate: Booth scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Bunner scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. E Schauer also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

The victory (which was St. Ursula Academy's sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Mercy McAuley, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Looking ahead, St. Ursula Academy will square off against Mount Notre Dame at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mercy McAuley, they will take on Anderson at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Raptors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.5 runs per game on average), something the Wolves will no doubt try to take advantage of.
