Preview: West Holt Huskies vs. Battle Creek Braves
West Holt has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on The Battle Creek Braves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West Holt will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 114th, while Battle Creek is ranked 12th).
Last Friday, West Holt was beaten by Gordon-Rushville 40-6.
Meanwhile, Battle Creek strolled past Cedar Catholic with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 30-12. Battle Creek pushed the score to 30-6 by the end of the third, a deficit Cedar Catholic cut but never quite recovered from.
Trent Uhlir continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 170 yards and three touchdowns, while also throwing for seven yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes.
Battle Creek's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Wyatt Nierodzik and his two sacks.
West Holt has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Battle Creek, their victory was their fifth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 6-1.
West Holt was taken down by Battle Creek 42-6 in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Can West Holt avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
