D'Iberville won the last time they faced Gautier and things went their way on Friday too. The Warriors blew past the Gators 42-17. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.
This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Christian Butler and Malakai Knight. Butler rushed for 38 yards and two touchdowns while Knight rushed for 55 yards and one score on only five carries.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to D'Iberville's defense and their seven sacks. KJ Washington was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up five himself. Greg Boyden got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Gautier's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kasin Thomas, who picked up 110 receiving yards and one TD. Thomas really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 80 yards. Gautier also got a significant boost from Latrell Pogue, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 91 yards.
D'Iberville's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Gautier, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
D'Iberville has already played their next contest, a 49-21 victory against Seminary on the 12th. As for Gautier, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 47-17 loss against West Harrison on the 12th.
