Basketball Recap: Elsie Ahnert's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Harrison over Noblesville

Harrison lost against Noblesville back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Harrison Raiders lost 68-42 to the Noblesville Millers. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 181st, while the Millers are ranked fourth).

Harrison's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elsie Ahnert, who posted ten points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Aleah Szymanski, who had nine points and eight boards.

Even though they lost, Harrison smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive contests.

Meredith Tippner continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Noblesville, dropping a double-double on 29 points and ten rebounds. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Tippner has scored at least a third of Noblesville's points. Another player making a difference was Ally Hutchinson, who went 6 for 11 on her way to 14 points in addition to six boards and six steals.

Harrison's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Noblesville, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harrison will venture away from home to challenge Benton Central at 7:30 p.m. on January 28th. As for Noblesville, they are taking a road trip to face off against Franklin Central at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Franklin Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.3 points per game this season.
