Basketball Game Preview: Loretto Mustangs vs. Summertown Eagles

Loretto has won four straight games at home, while Summertown has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Loretto Mustangs will welcome the Summertown Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

If Loretto beats Summertown with 70 points on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. Loretto breezed by Battle Creek to the tune of 70-13 on Tuesday. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-12.

Meanwhile, Summertown blew past Mt. Pleasant, posting a 60-17 victory. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 70th, while the Tigers are ranked 373rd), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Summertown is also on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.5 points per game. As for Loretto, their win bumped their record up to 17-7.

Loretto strolled past Summertown in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a score of 52-34. Will Loretto repeat their success, or does Summertown have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
