Softball Recap: Voyager Academy Wins Going Away Against Durham Academy

Voyager Academy's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Durham Academy Cavaliers with a sharp 11-5 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 16-0 last Friday.

Ella Bartes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Voyager Academy got a massive performance out of Reese Minor, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Maleyva Pardo, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Voyager Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Durham Academy only posted an OBP of .353.

Voyager Academy's record now sits at 2-7. As for Durham Academy, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-8-1.

Voyager Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Durham Academy, they will square off against Thales Academy Apex at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The Cavaliers will need to watch out since the Titans have now posted at least ten runs in their last four contests.
