Softball Game Preview: Fort Bend Willowridge Eagles vs. Almeta Crawford Chargers

The Fort Bend Willowridge Eagles will square off against the Almeta Crawford Chargers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Fort Bend Willowridge has struggled recently with 20 defeats in a row, while Almeta Crawford will arrive with three straight victories.

Fort Bend Willowridge lost 16-1 to La Marque on Friday.

Meanwhile, Almeta Crawford made easy work of Stafford on Friday and carried off an 11-5 win. Considering the Chargers have won six games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Adriana Pomales-Ng was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Pomales-Ng was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Kylie Remington was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Natalie Mellado was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Almeta Crawford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Stafford only posted an OBP of .389.

Almeta Crawford pushed their record up to 7-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Fort Bend Willowridge, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.
