Basketball Recap: Monday's Defeat Ends Cornersville's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Cornersville unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Monday. The match between the Cornersville Bulldogs and the Richland Raiders didn't end well, with the Cornersville Bulldogs falling 54-40. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 154th in Tennessee, while the Raiders are ranked 50th in Tennessee).

Richland's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Katelyn Bass, who posted 13 points and five boards. That's the most points Bass has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mary Avery Mcneese, who scored 13 points and seven rebounds.

Cornersville's defeat dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Richland, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-3 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cornersville will take on Eagleville on Friday. As for Richland, they will challenge Huntland on Friday. Richland is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.1 points per game this season.
