Softball Recap: Marana Tigers vs. Sabino Sabercats
Marana lost to Sabino back in April of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Marana Tigers walked away with a 7-2 win over the Sabino Sabercats. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.
Hayden Christensen-Strand spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Bella Sayre and Bella Corona did most of the damage at the plate: Sayre scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Corona scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Sayre a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Cadence Beck, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Marana kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sabino only managed eight hits.
Marana's record is now 11-3. As for Sabino, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.
Marana wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 15-7 defeat against Tucson High Magnet School on the 13th. As for Sabino, they have also already played their next game, a 1-0 loss against Mountain View on the 13th.
