Softball Recap: Penfield Picks Up Third Straight Win on the Road

Penfield's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They came out on top against the Hilton Cadets by a score of 9-6. This was payback for the Patriots, who suffered a 6-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Penfield got a great performance from Clare Magee as she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

At the plate, Alexi Cimino was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Megan Clark was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Penfield pushed their record up to 7-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Hilton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-6.

Looking ahead, Penfield will be playing at home against Pittsford at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Hilton, they are taking a road trip to square off against Victor at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Blue Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.82 runs per game on average), something the Cadets will no doubt try to take advantage of.
