Basketball Recap: Laurel Snags 13th Victory in Last 15 Games

Laurel extended their postseason success on Saturday against Mergenthaler Vo-Tech. They came out on top against the Mergenthaler Vo-Tech Mustangs by a score of 74-62. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 24th, while the Mustangs are ranked 102nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jermaine Taylor continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 10-for-16 en route to 30 points. Thanks to that strong game, he now owns an excellent 45.3% shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Christian Brown, who shot 56% from the field on his way to 17 points and six rebounds.

Laurel has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season. Mergenthaler Vo-Tech's loss dropped their record down to 17-11.

Looking ahead, Laurel will take on Meade at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Meade's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 25 games. Mergenthaler Vo-Tech does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
