Recap: Kelso Hilanders vs. Tumwater Thunderbirds

The Kelso Hilanders had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They blew past Tumwater 76-53. Given Kelso's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while Tumwater is ranked 138th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Tumwater still got an impressive performance from Clay Morgan, who scored 20 points. The matchup was Morgan's third in a row with at least ten points. Jake Dillon was another key contributor, scoring seven points.

Kelso's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Tumwater, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kelso will be home for the holidays to greet Mountain View at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mountain View is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. Tumwater won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Aberdeen at 7:00 p.m. on December 13th. Hopefully Aberdeen focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Monday.
