Basketball Game Preview: Colleton County Cougars vs. Stratford Knights

The Colleton County Cougars are taking a road trip to challenge the Stratford Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Colleton County will be strutting in after a victory while Stratford will be coming in after a defeat.

Colleton County is headed into the matchup having just posted their biggest win since December 15, 2023 on Saturday. They ended the year with a bang, routing Cross 38-17.

Meanwhile, Stratford was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were beaten by Pisgah 74-47. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 143rd in South Carolina, while the Bears are ranked 42nd in North Carolina).

Colleton County's victory ended a 12-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-7. As for Stratford, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.

Colleton County ended up a good deal behind Stratford when the teams last played on December 3rd, losing 57-40. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Stratford's Ciara Mustapher, who posted 23 points and four steals.
