West Middlesex waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over the Lakeview Sailors. The Big Reds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by eight runs or more this season.
Harper Nickel (Waynesburg) made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Lila Kimmel was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April. Allison Blanton also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
West Middlesex now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Lakeview, they dropped their record down to 0-18 with the loss, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.
As of now, neither West Middlesex nor the Sailors have any future games scheduled.
