Kankakee hadn't done well against Bradley-Bourbonnais recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Kays sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Boilermakers. While the Kays didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-10), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Kankakee had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The final score came out to 19-25, 25-19, 25-21.

Kankakee is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Bradley-Bourbonnais, their defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-8.

Kankakee will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Boilermakers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
