Basketball Recap: Cornerstone Christian Now 16-1 over Last 17 Games

Cornerstone Christian had won two straight games and Benjamin Wagner did his part to make it three on Tuesday. The Cornerstone Christian Warriors sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 59-56 victory over the Central Catholic Buttons thanks in part to Wagner, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten boards. The game was his seventh in a row with at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Xander Parra, who posted nine points. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in blocks (two).

Cornerstone Christian is on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 24-2 record this season. As for Central Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cornerstone Christian will face off against San Antonio Patriots HomeSchool at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Cornerstone Christian is on a 12-game streak of home wins, San Antonio Patriots HomeSchool a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Central Catholic, they will square off against TMI-Episcopal at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
