Football Game Preview: Jim Thorpe Olympians vs. Catasauqua Rough Riders

Jim Thorpe is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Southern Lehigh on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Olympians lost 47-27 to the Spartans. The defeat continues a trend for the Olympians in their meetings with the Spartans: they've now lost four in a row.

Despite the loss, Jim Thorpe got top-tier performance from Cole Lazorick, who rushed for 77 yards and two scores, and also threw for 250 yards and one touchdown. Lazorick was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards.

Meanwhile, Catasauqua came up short against Saucon Valley on Friday, falling 49-26.

Jim Thorpe's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Catasauqua, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Everything came up roses for Jim Thorpe against Catasauqua when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 39-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Olympians since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
