Softball Game Preview: Muleshoe Mules vs. Dimmitt Bobcats

Muleshoe is a perfect 10-0 against Dimmitt since February of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Muleshoe Mules will face off against the Dimmitt Bobcats at 12:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Muleshoe has six straight wins, Dimmitt has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Last Monday, Muleshoe was able to grind out a solid victory over Slaton, taking the game 5-2.

Adalie Agundis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Isabela Elizalde and Addilene Blanco did most of the damage at the plate: Elizalde went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base, while Blanco scored a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave Elizalde a new career-high in RBI.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Dimmitt took on Idalou on Monday. Dimmitt lost 19-4 to Idalou.

Muleshoe's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Dimmitt, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11-1.

Everything went Muleshoe's way against Dimmitt in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as Muleshoe made off with a 19-0 victory. Will Muleshoe repeat their success, or does Dimmitt have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
