Softball Recap: Wildwood Catholic Wins Going Away Against Wildwood

Wildwood Catholic won the last time they faced Wildwood and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Crusaders were the clear victors by a 14-7 margin over the Warriors. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Crusaders' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Emma Johnson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and six unearned) runs on three hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cara Millard was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. Kristen Wareham was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Wildwood Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wildwood only managed six hits.

Wildwood Catholic now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Wildwood, their loss was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-7.

Coming up, Wildwood Catholic will head out to take on Bridgeton at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Wildwood, they will welcome Salem at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors are facing the Rams at the right time seeing as the Rams are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
